Broadway Intensives
This summer we will offer four sessions of weeklong Broadway Intensives at Open Jar Studios in the heart of Times Square. Attendance is by audition only.
Join us this summer for a week of high intensity workshops in acting, singing, dance, and audition techniques - all taught by Broadway professionals. Under the direction of Director/Choreographer Jeff Whiting, students will work with some of Broadway’s best vocal coaches, acting teachers, choreographers, agents, and casting directors.

Summer 2027
High School Intensive #1: Monday, June 21 - Sunday, June 27, 2027
High School Intensive #2: Sunday, July 25 - Saturday, July 31, 2027
College Intensive #1: Sunday, June 13 - Saturday, June 19, 2027
College Intensive #2: Monday, August 2 - Sunday, August 8, 2027
(Students who will have graduated high school by Summer 2027 are eligible to attend a college session. The minimum age requirement for the high school session is 14 by December 31, 2027)
Tuition: $3,695
Includes all masterclasses, studio fees, three meals a day during the five full days of the program (excluding travel days), and tickets to three of the hottest shows on Broadway.
Optional Student Add-Ons:
Student Housing: $995 or $1,895
Six night stay at the Hyatt Regency Times Square located in the same building as Open Jar Studios. Take an elevator to class! Students attending a high school session will be chaperoned 24/7 by Open Jar staff members staying in the hotel.
Students have the option to stay in a room with three other students ($995) or with one other student ($1,895). Both room types have two, double beds. Roommate requests are available.
Families may choose to book their own housing (at the Hyatt Regency or elsewhere). Students attending a HS session who stay off-site with their families will still have Open Jar chaperone supervision during Open Jar events and activities.

Receive a new headshot from professional NYC photographer. One look appointment will be made for you during the first two days of the program. 10 headshot prints for you to leave with by the end of the week from our in-house Broadway printing service.

Backstage Family Pass (NEW!) : $895
(High School Intensives Only) We’re thrilled to offer a brand new experience for family members spending the week with their students. The Backstage Family Pass includes 8+ hours of classes, meet & greet experiences, and a Show Pack of tickets to the Broadway shows ($345 value). Events will be held on the first and third full days of the intensive at Open Jar Studios, and any family member who purchases the pass may attend. All are optional. They will include:
‘The Business of Show Business’ Parent Edition. Learn the X’s and O’s of the business including unions, tours, and salaries.
‘Dance For Non-Dancers’. All experience levels and backgrounds welcome to this fun and stress-free dance class taught by a Broadway professional.
‘College Audition Prep Q&A’. Discuss the college audition process with actual faculty members of college programs.
‘Family Improv Acting Class’. Family edition of one of our most popular acting classes. All experience levels welcome.
‘Broadway Performer Up-Close’. Exclusive Q&A with cast member from one of the shows we’ll be seeing that week.
Family Room: $2,995
Private hotel room at the Hyatt Regency Times Square with two, double beds (or one, King bed available on request) for family members traveling with student. Maximum occupancy of 4. Student can stay in this room with family or separately in Student Housing. HS students staying in a Family Room will still have Open Jar chaperone supervision when not with family.
Show Pack: $345
A set of tickets to the three Broadway shows we are seeing for a family member. This Show Pack is already included in the Backstage Family Pass if purchased. Student tickets are included in tuition. A family may purchase as many Show Packs as they would like. Announcement of Broadway shows will be in April, 2027. They will be new to Broadway this season.

Where does the program take place and how do I get there?
Our Broadway Intensives take place at state of the art Open Jar Studios, a professional rehearsal studio located in the heart of Times Square at 1601 Broadway 11th Floor. Everyone who stays in Student Housing or a Family Room with us will be at the Hyatt Regency Times Square, located in the same building as Open Jar but with a separate address at 1605 Broadway. Students (and anyone traveling with them) are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from NYC. We ask everyone to arrive in the afternoon of the first day for registration, and they will have a check-out at 10am on the final day of the program.
What is included in tuition, and what is not?
Tuition for the program includes all masterclasses, meals during the five main masterclass days of the program (excluding travel days) and tickets to three Broadway shows. It does not include travel. Housing with us at the Hyatt Regency Times Square is an optional add-on.
I want to attend a High School session, how does chaperone supervision work?
From the moment a high school student walks into Open Jar Studios for registration, they are under our 24/7 supervision and care. Our chaperones are highly experienced educators with many years of experience working at our program. The safety and well being of all students is our #1 priority. A student will never leave the hotel or studio without their chaperone, who will stay just down the hall from their students in the hotel. The chaperone will be the last person they see at night, and the first in the morning. Any student who violates our safety policies will be immediately sent home at their own cost without the opportunity for a refund.
Are payment plans available?
Yes. Accepted students who register for the program have the option to either pay the total balance now or choose a payment plan of a $500 Deposit followed by monthly payments between now and May (payments on the 1st or 15th of each month, your choice). Once you agree to a plan, payments will auto-charge via the payment method saved on file like any monthly subscription. A receipt will be emailed each payment. There are no additional fees or cost associated with paying via payment plan.
How does travel work to and from NYC?
Students (and families) are responsible for booking their own travel plans to and from New York City. We wish we had the ability to pick up students at the airport, but unfortunately we cannot with students arriving to all major airports throughout the day of registration. From the moment a student walks into Open Jar Studios, we are responsible for them.
How do the travel days work (first and last day of each Intensive)?
Students will be asked to arrive to Open Jar Studios between Noon and 4:00pm Eastern Time on the starting day of their Intensive for registration. They will receive materials and meet with mentors and program staff. There are events and an evening kick-off open to family and friends. Classes begin the following morning. The final day of the Intensive is a 10:00am check-out for those staying with us at the hotel. There are no official classes or events. Staff will help everyone safely on their way. All parent pick-ups should be arranged by 10:00am. Students leaving for the airport can book their flight any time that morning / early afternoon and we will see them safely off.
