RESIDENCY PROGRAM
For any actor, the idea of moving to New York City can be pretty daunting. The Open Jar RESIDENCY is designed for the serious musical theatre actor who is moving to New York and wants to get their career started in the right way.
This unique curriculum being created by Tony-winners Joanna Gleason (Into the Woods), Susan Stroman (The Producers), Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime), and Jeff Whiting is structured to ensure a clear navigation as you begin your acting career in New York City. Getting started in this business is the hardest part and the Open Jar RESIDENCY will help you set yourself up for greater success.

BROADWAY MENTOR
Strategize daily with mentor to shape your first steps in your first audition season.
Identify the right auditions for you to attend
Choose and coach materials for upcoming auditions
Ensure your headshot and resumé are competitive
Evaluate performance in auditions/call backs

Meet and work with Casting Directors
Meet and work with Agents
Attend Broadway/Off-Broadway shows
MASTERCLASSES
Training in dance, acting, voice technique
Acting curriculum taught by Carol Rosenfeld from HB Studio
Private vocal instruction and group voice masterclass with Broadway professionals
Both dance technique and Broadway choreography classes taught by ensemble members of current shows
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITITES
Residents will be cast in a 29-hour reading of a show in development during the final week of the program
Note: Admission by audition only. Ideal for students just finishing school.
Includes all training, private coaching, group voice, Broadway mentor, classes, workshops, masterclasses, Agent/Casting Director Showcase, tickets to Broadway/Off-Broadway shows.
